"Consciously provisional and "under construction", but at the same time also about the poetic and to a certain extent the romantic." Bastione's work rejects identification with patterns and structures; hardly anything is defined and fixed.
Bastione's practice addresses issues of alienation and explores how new cultural forms are established. In particular, he asks how these can influence our social coexistence in areas of tension between different cultures. Using strategies that seem deliberately "casual" and "creative" in an almost naïve way, Bastione increasingly incorporates his motifs and materials in morally questionable ways and plays with the absurd and grotesque. He often uses discarded or found materials for this purpose, which give the works an ambiguous and at the same time representative meaning by deconstructing rather than re-presenting a concept.
Currently, Bastione's work explores how technology and science merge with questions about the nature of the political and the dimension of the social.

나의 작업은 소외 문제를 다루고 새로운 문화적 형태가 어떻게 확립되는지 탐구합니다. 
특히 서로 다른 문화 사이의 긴장 영역에서 우리의 사회적 공존에 어떤 영향을 미칠 수 있는지 묻습니다. 거의 순진한 방식으로 의도적으로 "캐주얼"하고 "창의적"인 것처럼 보이는 전략을 사용하여 점점 더 도덕적이고, 의심스러운 방식으로 자신의 모티프와 소재를 통합하고 터무니없고 기괴한 방식 으로 작업합니다. 이를 위해 폐기되거나 우연히 발견한 재료를 자주 사용하는데, 이는 개념을 재현하기보다는 해체 함으로써 작품에 모호함과 동시에 대표적인 의미를 부여한다.
현재 나의 작업은 기술과 과학이 정치적인 것의 본질과 사회적인 것의 차원에 대한 질문과 어떻게 합쳐지는지를 탐구합니다.
