언제나 현재
사라져가는 물성에 대해 천작하고 작품 활동을 하고 있다. 도시가 변하고 사람들의 삶은 더욱 윤택해 보이지만 그 안에는 무수히 움직이는 사람들과 변화 무쌍한 지난날들이 쌓여 현재가 된다. 어제도 현재였고 오늘도 현재, 다가올 내일도 언젠가는 현재가 되어 지나간다. 사라져가는 풍경 속 이야기를 담아내고 싶었으며 양림동 창작소에 들어와서 주변의 공사장 소리들을 채집했다. 뜨거운 태양과 매미 소리 아래 하수도 공사와 노인복지센터 공사장 소리는 끊임없이 울려 퍼졌다. 누군가를 위한, 그리고 자신을 위한 노동의 시간을 보낸 이들의 이야기가 곧 나의 이야기처럼 메아리치기를 반복했다. 이번 작업은 채집한 공사장 소리를 시각화하여 설치될 예정이며 켜켜이 물감을 쌓아 올린 평면작업을 조각도로 깎아 만든 작업에서 부산물로 남겨진 물감(캔버스에 올리고 남은 물감)들을 평판으로 제작한다. 이 평판은 스크린이 되어 창작자의 부산물과 공사장 소리가 시각화되어 설치된다. 또한 태초의 물질은 흙으로부터 생산되고 소멸되듯 흙으로 쌓아 올려진 제단 위에 노동의 부산물들이 설치된다. 현재를 보내는 우리에게 언제나 온전히 삶이 본인의 것인지를 묻는 작업이다.
I'm diving deep into disappearing nature and engaging in artistic activities. The city changes and people's lives seem more prosperous, but inside it, countless moving people and ever-changing past days accumulate to become the present. Yesterday was once the present, today is the present, and tomorrow, yet to come, will eventually become the present and pass away. I wanted to collect story of the disappearing landscape, so I came to the Yangrim-dong Creative Studio and collected the sounds from the surrounding construction sites. Under the scorching sun and the sound of cicadas, the noise from the sewer construction and the senior welfare center construction sites echoed incessantly. The stories of those who spent their time in labor for others, and for themselves, echoed repeatedly, almost as if they were my own story. This work aims to visualize the collected sounds from construction sites. In a flat work where paints are piled up layer by layer, the work is carved with a graver, and the paints(paints left over from being placed on the canvas) are made into flat plates. This flat plates becomes a screens where the artist's residue and the sounds of the construction site are visualized and installed. Furthermore, just as the primordial substance is produced and destroyed from the soil, labor byproducts are installed atop an altar constructed from piled-up earth. For us who are experiencing the present, It is a work that always asks whether life truly belongs to oneself entirely.

공유된 서식지

생존과 번식을 위해 공간 안에 존재하는 자원과 물리적, 생물학적 요인들을 집합해 구성한 것을 서식지라고 한다. 기존의 공간이 인위적, 자연적 원인으로 인해 끊임없이 훼손되고 파괴됨으로 우리는 좀더 최적화된 서식지를 마련하기 위해 노력해왔다. 이곳은 우리가 미처 인지하지 못했던 다양한 차원의 새로운 영역이며, 경계없는 공존, 탈영토화된 서식지로 다각적인 시선으로 접근해 나타나는 공간의 틈새와 이면이다.
Habitat is a combination of resources, physical and biological factors that exist in space for survival and reproduction. As existing spaces are constantly damaged and destroyed by artificial and natural causes, we have tried to provide a more optimized habitat. This is a new area of various dimensions that we have not been aware of, and it is the cracks and sides of the space that appears from a multi-faceted point of view as a unbounded coexistence and deterritorialized habitat.

Bread Whispers:
A Tale of Making and Sharing
"Bread Whisper (빵소리)" is my artistic exploration into the world of bread-making and its power to connect people. This project, born from my time at Gwangju Horanggasy Creative Studio, goes beyond showcasing skills. It's about the warmth found in sharing food and the ties it creates.
As a work-in-progress, this exhibition reveals my growing journey in baking. It's a journey of learning the art of bread-making and forming deep human connections. Every piece in this showcase has its own story, shaped by patience, a local bakery master's guidance, and friendship. It's a journey from being a learner to an artist.
This exhibition is a tribute to hospitality and the bonds shared over bread. It contrasts with the often competitive nature of public residencies. In Gwangju, I've found a community where cooperation overshadows competition, blending art with life. Join me in "Bread Whisper" to feel the shared warmth, to enjoy the act of breaking bread together, and to see how sharing food can unite us in friendship, art, and transformation.
"빵소리 (Bread Whispers)"는 빵 만들기의 세계와 사람들을 연결하는 그 힘에 대한 제 예술적 탐험입니다. 이 프로젝트는 광주 호랑가시 크리에이티브 스튜디오에서의 시간을 거쳐 탄생했으며, 단순한 기술 전시를 넘어섭니다. 이것은 음식을 나눔으로써 찾아오는 따뜻함과 그것이 만들어내는 관계에 대한 이야기입니다.
진행 중인 작업으로서, 이 전시는 제 빵 만들기 여정의 성장을 드러냅니다. 이는 빵 만들기의 예술을 배우고 깊은 인간적 연결을 형성하는 여정입니다. 전시의 각 작품마다 자체적인 이야기가 있으며, 인내심, 지역 빵집 사장님의 지도, 그리고 우정으로 형성되었습니다. 이는 학습자에서 예술가로의 여정입니다.
이 전시는 환대의 정신과 빵을 함께 나눔으로써 형성되는 유대감에 대한 찬사입니다. 이는 공공 기관의 아티스트 레지던시에서 종종 발견되는 경쟁적인 분위기와 대조됩니다. 광주에서 저는 협력이 경쟁을 능가하는 커뮤니티를 발견했으며, 예술이 삶과 조화를 이룹니다.
